21 - History Major at ASU

Fair Warning: I really only talk about football (Arsenal and SJ Earthquakes), hockey (Sharks), baseball (Giants), and pop culture (Mainly british TV shows and such). All the time. Just, you know, warning you. To be fair. Because I spam hockey and Arsenal FC almost daily.

The bottom one? GPOY. So hard. I scan for .edu sources and cite them. Worst. Student. Ever.

Since I’m going here next term, I figure I probably should own/break in one of their hoodies instead of my UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and Standford ones…

I’m in class every T/TH almost all day. Political Science, French, Yoga, and English Literature & Critical Thought. I cannot wait. I love my schedule, I love the professors, and I’m done after this semester. Done. On to ASU. To Arizona to live. I have never been more ready to take school on head on. I took two years off after high school to travel and work, and I don’t regret it a bit. I’ve caught up even though I went back. I’ve taken extra classes in order to keep up and catch up to my friends. I’m so excited for everything this year.

Is this the real life? I this just fantasy?

I feel like a huge weight just got lifted off my shoulders. Now, to get my financial aid! But that’s going to take until like, you know, three weeks before the semester ends to fully arrive.

How do you sit there and expect us to graduate/transfer at the Community/City level if you keep cutting key classes? I can’t even get into UCLA now because you cut the three history classes I needed to take to go. Now I have to go to a CSU because all the UCs require these classes. That or I have to commute 2+hours to go to a different school. I literally am about to have a mental breakdown. I can’t take this.
My mentor, the one person on that campus that was always 100% brutally honest with me and that taught the way the UC system wanted classes taught, got let go today and told his last day is the 18th. I can’t. I can’t do this. History is getting cut almost completely from my school. I just. If this keeps going like this, I don’t know how I’ll ever manage to go to a 4-year.
Maybe if you stopped “rebuilding” your campus, LMC, and started focusing on the actual learning taking place you would have a better graduation/transfer rates. Maybe if you stopped cutting classes and started cutting down on club funding (do we really need a book club and a classic novelist club? Come on now.) and cutting down on the food options you keep springing up, you’d have more success out of your school.
It took me two hours to register for one class, since all the others were taken by then. Why do you think so many people are trying to leave your institution now?

This entire semester I’ve been riding a high-horse in my music class on Popular Music in American Culture. I got in an argument through email with someone about why The Beatles and 80’s Classic Rock were/are more successful than Sean “P. Diddy” Combs will ever be. I’ve got the highest grade in the class and my professor let everyone else know how much he likes my ideas and insight on music. This has all been anonymous sans for my name and email address through the college.

WELL NOW WE HAVE TO POST A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF US RESPONDING TO AN ARGUMENT/DISCUSSION.

I don’t want people to know what I look like that I’ve been arguing with about P Diddy and the lack of validity in the majority of his music. Ugh.
